3 Free Online Tools to Create your Own Cross-Stitch Pattern

Ever wanted to create your own cross-stitch pattern? There are several tools online that will help you do so. Whether it’s converting a photo to a chart or just creating and designing your own, here is a list of useful websites.

My Photo Stitch: Photo to Cross-Stitch Pattern

The My Photo Stitch pattern creator allows you to upload any picture from your computer and convert it into a pattern. Once you selected the picture, you can choose the size of the stitched area, the number of thread colors, your pattern style as well as the allowed colors (all colors, simple colors or grayscale).

Once you hit submit, the picture will be uploaded and you will be redirected to a link that lets you download your pattern, chart and DMC colors included. All you have to do next is to get started stitching!

Stitch Fiddle: Custom Design to Cross-Stitch Pattern

If you want to create a pattern based on your own imagination, you can use Stitch Fiddle. Also suitable for knitting and crochet, Stitch Fiddle will allow you to create your own design by uploading a picture. When creating your design, you will choose the type of floss as well as the size of the canvas. A very useful interface will allow you to choose the colors and click in the square where you want it.

Stitch Point: Text to Cross-Stitch Pattern

I have personally used Stitch Point several times, mainly to create text-based cross-stitch patterns. Even though they only have 6 fonts available, it is free to use. Type in your text by choosing the letters and the pattern will automatically generate as you go. Within the keyboard as well, there is a small selection of Valentine Hearts that you can include within your text. Once you are done, print your pattern and you’re ready to go! This is the website I used to generate the pattern for my name.

These free online tools will help you let your creativity flow and create your own customized cross-stitch pattern. Do you use any other tool?
